A mews house has its three historic facades retained whilst being otherwise entirely rebuilt and is given a new basement extension. The retained facades are an important part of the building’s charm but allow only limited natural light to filter in to the interior. The proposals play with these limitations to introduce zoning into the plans, to catch glimpses of passing clouds above, and to orchestrate moments of passing light and shadow.
